Summer 2013 Northeast Fly-in and Event Calendar
The summer flying season is taking off and there’s plenty of air shows and fly-ins going on in the northeast. Here’s a calendar of summer aviation events going on around the Northeast. Print the event calendar and refer to it all summer long.
June 1 – Danbury, CT
Casual Fly-In BBQ at Business Aircraft Center/Danbury Municipal Airport (KDXR). Free food and drinks from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. For information, call the office at (203) 748-7000.
June 2 – Elmira, NY
Fly-in breakfast at Elmira Corning Regional (KRLM). Sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 533. Open to the public. June 2 – Tunkhannock, PA
Fly-in Breakfast and Craft Show at Skyhaven (76N). All-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, ham, sausage and beverage. Airplane and farm machinery displays, craft show. Contact Charlie Gay at 570-836-4800.
June 3 – Middle River, MD
Glenn L. Martin Maryland Aviation Museum’s Aviation Speaker Series. At 7:00 p.m., retired Generals Vic Kilkowski and Guy Walsh compare the Maryland Air National Guard over the decades. June 6 – Stow, MA
Wings & Wheels Cruise-In/Fly-In to Minute Man Air Field (6B6). Join fellow pilots and car enthusiasts on Thursday nights from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. through August 29 (except July 4) for great food and featured cars each week. All cars welcome, plenty of show and public parking. Held rain or shine. Donations to benefit local and international service projects. Contact Laura Spear at 978-562-4521.
June 7-8 – Columbus, OH
Private Pilot Refresher Class at Ohio State University Airport (KOSU). This 8 hour class over two days will help you brush up on flying essentials. June 8 – Hamilton, NY
Scavenger Hunt at Hamilton (KVCG). Scavenger hunt covering six airports, VFR only, starts11:00 a.m., $25 per team (including pilot, copilot, and passengers). Prizes and refreshments. June 8 – Cincinnati, OH
Sporty’s Saturday Hot Dog Fly-In at Clermont County/Sporty’s (I69). Visit Sporty’s, the World's Largest Pilot Shop, and a must-see for every pilot. Shop, eat and enjoy a fun day at the airport with fellow pilots. Free hotdogs from noon to 2:00 p.m. to pilots who make the trip. June 7-9 – Reading, PA
Mid-Atlantic Air Museum’s 23rd Anniversary World War II Weekend. Called “A Gathering of Warbirds,” step back to 1944 and experience the nation’s largest and best known historic commemoration of the life and times of America’s "Greatest Generation.“ Airplane rides, demonstrations, military vehicles, famous WW II personalities, and more. June 15-16 – Teterboro, NJ
Wings and Wheels Expo 2013 at the Aviation Hall of Fame in Teterboro, NJ. Enjoy Father’s day weekend with a variety of historic and modern military airplanes and vehicles, vintage and contemporary show cars and live entertainment. Guests of honor: “The Tuskegee Airmen.” Features for kids include the Batmobile and Green Hornet cars and contests, interesting exhibitions, unique vendors and food concessions. Donations: Adults $14, seniors and children $8, free under 3. Veterans wearing a veteran’s cap of any kind and active duty military (with I.D.) are free. Gates open 9:00 a.m.
June 16 – Hamburg, NY
Southtowns Cadet Squadron 8th Annual Fly-In Breakfast at Hamburg Airport (4G2). From 8:00 a.m. – noon; pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. Adults $7.00, children ages 6-12 $3.00, 5 and under free. Static aircraft displays, airplane rides, Flying Knights R/C Club, Young Eagle Flights (Sponsored by EAA), local Fire Department equipment demonstration, and more. Weather permitting. Contact 1st Lt. June 16 – Hamilton, NY

June 16 – Massena, NY
Massena International Airport (MSS) is holding its EAA Chapter 500 is holding its annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast on June 16 from 8:00 a.m. to noon at the large hangar at Massena International Airport. June 16 – Beach City, OH
Beach City Airport (2D7) 29th Annual Father’s Day Fly-in. Breakfast of pancakes, eggs, sausage from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Sandwiches and pie, noon to 3:00 p.m. Known as one of Ohio’s smoothest grass strips. (Note: Ultralight operations are prohibited at Beach City Airport.) June 19-22 – Lock Haven, PA
28th annual fly-in at Piper Memorial Airport (KLHV). Billed as the #1 grassroots fly-in in the country. Take a “Sentimental Journey to Cub Haven,” plus fun, food, bomb drop, spot landing, and poker run. Nightly corn boil, free nightly entertainment, and more. Contact Kim Garlick at 570-893-4200.
July 4 – Penn Yan, NY
July 4 Fly-in/Drive-In Breakfast at Penn Yan Airport (KPEO). Come experience one of the largest (2,500+) fly-in breakfasts anywhere in the heart of the stunning Finger Lakes wine country. July 14 – Cortland, NY
Cortland “Wings & Wheels AirFest 2013 at Cortland County – Chase Field (N03)

Wings Over Wiscasset: Voices of Freedom at Wiscasset Municipal Airport (KIWI). Free event. Music, food, kids and family activities, antique cars, air show, and fireworks. Fundraiser for a number of non-profits including the Maine Aeronautics Association which supports aviation youth programs and veterans programs in Maine.
