Summer 2014 Northeast Aviation Event Calendar

The summer flying season is here: time for a good old-fashioned air show or social fly-in! Here’s a Northeast summer aviation event calendar courtesy of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, funplacestofly.com and BAC.

What: Pine Hill Pancake Breakfast
When: Sunday, June 1
Where: Pine Hill Airport (9G6), Albion, NY

Fly, drive or walk in for the 50th Anniversary Pine Hill Pancake Breakfast! Join more than 500 other pilots and aviation enthusiasts for all-you-can-eat pancakes, eggs, sausage, and more. Plus enjoying skydiving and remote-controled aircraft.

What: Blast from the Past — Tri-Cities Drag-Way
When: Sunday, June 1
Where: Tri-Cities Airport (CZG), Endicott, NY

Come for a fly-in/drive-in, plus car show, swap meet, craft food vendors, and awards presentations for youngest pilot, oldest airplane, furthest home base, and more.

What: Spectacular Sunday
When: Sunday, June 8 (Rain date June 15) 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Where: Business Aircraft Center, Danbury Municipal Airport (KDXR)

Cars, motorcycles and trucks, all makes and models welcome. BMX Bike Exhibition, trophies, live music, great food, vendors, plus special guest, Chuck Zito. Contributions made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation. Click here for more information.

What: Pancake Breakfast Fly-in
When: Saturday, June 14
Where: Allen’s Airstrip (3 nj9), Southampton, NJ

Pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice, coffee, Stearman rides to benefit the Jack Allen Museum.

What: Fly-in Event
When: Saturday, June 14
Where: Wings Wheels at Skyhaven Airport – Rochester, NH

Family fun event presented by the Rochester Police Dept. to benefit Gerry’s Food Pantry. Fly-in/drive-in show with car, motorcycle, and aircraft with public voting for People’s Choice Best of Show in three categories. Plane and helicopter rides, pilot passport challenge, live music, food concessions, product vendors, demonstrations, displays, kids’ activities, contests, games, raffles, police and fire dept exhibits, and more! Registration for Show/Admission to the public is a donation to the food pantry. Fly-in and check it out!

What: Vectren Dayton Air Show
When: Saturday – Sunday, June 28–29
Where: Dayton, OH

A close cousin of the Northeast air shows, the Dayton Air Show is known to be a kid-friendly family event. Visit the Aerospace Adventures program for kids to perform experiments, see safety demonstrations, and play with rockets and fly simulators. Plus air show performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, USMC AV-8B Harrier, USAF Wings of Blue, and much more.

What: RIPA Poker Run Event
When: Sunday, June 22
Where: North Central State Airport (KSFZ), Lincoln, RI

Visit up to seven Rhode Island airports, and end up at KSFZ for a spot landing contest, chicken barbecue, and prizes.

What: Reading Air Fest
When: Saturday – Sunday, July 26–27
Where: Reading Regional Airport (KRDG), Reading, Pa.

A Berks County tradition, enjoy two days of aviation excitement, including the first appearance by The U.S. Army Golden Knights in 16 years! Plus the South Pacific fly-in clam bake and BBQ, classic car show, wing-walker Ashley Battles, the World’s Smallest Runway, and more!
